LA Semiconductor is seeking a self-driven and motivated engineering professional to join the Site Services team located in Pocatello, Idaho. As the Site Services Controls/Electrical Engineer, the individual will have the opportunity to research, study, design, install, document, and perform capacity, quality, efficiency, and reliability analysis of a wide variety of control, power, and life safety systems.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Primary focus:
- Control systems including Allen Bradley and Omron PLCs, a variety of discrete and analog instrumentation, and SCADA development using Ignition
- AC, 3-phase, 600V and less power distribution including UPS and backup generation.
- Fire alarm and Hazardous Gas Monitoring System support
- Projects related to these systems will include but are not limited to the following:
- Semiconductor tool installations, facility Infrastructure modifications and/or installations, space management, building/system maintenance, and energy/material optimization.
- Additionally, being part of the following:
- Involved in defining scopes of work, identifying, and mitigating associated risks, cost estimating/tracking, resourcing, bidding, selecting contractors, contractor oversight, and providing presentations to keep stakeholders informed.
- Interact between multiple cross functional groups to deliver a solution that best meets the needs of all stakeholders.
- Be an example of and passionate about taking care of internal customers (Manufacturing, Maintenance, Equipment Engineering, etc.).
- Abiding by principles of say/do, performance, accountability, responding promptly to technical questions and requests, and taking ownership of the projects which fall under his/her responsibility.
- Build strong working relationships and interact with facility technicians, multi-disciplined engineering teams, manufacturing personnel, and contractors.

Required Skills & Abilities:
- Required 5-7 years’ work experience in controls including but not limited to PLCs (Allen Bradley, Omron, Siemens), discrete/analog IO, PLC programming, discrete/analog instrumentation, PLC communication/networking protocol, and SCADA development preferably in Ignition
- Proficient in controls concepts such as PID control, signal conversion, and ladder logic
- Preferred 2-3 years’ work experience in AC power distribution design, specification, installation, and maintenance
- Preferred 2-3 years’ work experience with life safety systems such as Fire Alarm and Hazardous Gas Monitoring
- Knowledgeable in AC power concepts such as real, apparent, and reactive power, single and 3-phase circuit design, voltage drop, software-based system analysis, fault current, selective coordination, general power quality, and harmonics and harmonic filtering
- Knowledgeable in electrical safety and able to perform arc flash and shock hazard analysis using software such as SKM or Easy Power (preferred)
- Proficient with interpreting and applying latest national codes and standards including NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, NFPA 72, and NFPA 70B as a basis for design and specification
- Proficient with business and project management software such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Projects, and Smartsheet

- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Electrical or Controls Engineering
